Hikers Get ‘Special Treat’ On Crescent Mountain

Three Central Oregon Nordic Club hikers got a “special treat’ on a climb to the peak of Crescent Mountain on Sunday, July 1.

The trek was nine miles round trip with roughly 2,200 feet of elevation gain.

“Only three of us braved the climb to the peak of Crescent Mountain, and a special treat it was!” says hiker Thom Iverson, who snapped these photos.

“An amazing mountainside meadow presented us with great views, bear grass and a nice variety of wildflowers.  We had the peak to ourselves after a group left shortly after we arrived, and lunch was served with a panorama view that went on forever.

“Trail was smooth and easy, but did indeed gain elevation at an appreciable rate. Thanks to Roz for putting this together, as it will definitely go on my ‘repeat’ list.”
