‘Surprising Variety Of Wildflowers’ On Lookout Mountain

Call it Lookout Mountain, chapter 2.

Six members of the Central Oregon Club made the long drive to Lookout Mountain in the Ochocos on Sunday, July 8. Another group had made the trek late last month.

The Sunday hikers were “rewarded with a surprising variety of wildflowers,” says Thom Iverson. “Smoke obscured the views from the old lookout site, but the flowers distracted us from that being an issue.”

He describes a “relaxed and fun group” that did a 7.17-mile loop with 1,400 of feet elevation gain, hitting a high elevation point of 6,949 feet.
