Friday the forecast was for no rain after 3:00 am; Saturday no rain after 8:00 am; Sunday no rain after 11:00 am. But you probably guessed that the group of nine hikers going up to the Crater Rim got a bit of sun, rain, and snow pretty much all day. We were dressed for it, so we all felt invigorated! The Lost Lake trail goes up the east side of the Obsidian Flow, then curves east at the top of the flow. At the curve, another trail connects with the Crater Rim trail, which then takes us back to the eastern side of the Lost Lake trail and back along the pumice flat (Lost Lake). Returning on the Lost Lake trail made the hike into a lollipop loop. But we weren't done; we stopped off at the Paulina Lodge for refreshments, which perfectly capped a wonderful hike with a wonderful group.
