Distance: 6 miles. Plan on spending 4-5 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 100 feet of gain.
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Sno-Park pass required at trailhead. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Moderate, though pace will be leisurely.
Description: We will hike from the Swampy Lakes SnoPark and do the Nordeen Loop ski trail, with a stop at the Nordeen shelter. This trail is not maintained as a summer trail so there will be some logs to step over along the way - thus the ‘moderate’ rating. And a confession about this hike… we need to be checking for downed logs after the recent winds and rain, so this is also an opportunity to survey the trail to make sure it’s ready for snow!
