Just because there's no snow, that doesn't mean we can't get out!
We will meet at The Grove at Northwest Crossing at 8:30 to organize and leave by 9:00. NOTE: The meeting place is NOT where summer hikes met.
There will be two hike options:
Option 1: Jerry and Sharon will lead a group to Riley Ranch. Jerry will stay on top, hiking at a slower pace. Sharon will lead a group down to the river. Length: 2+ miles. Here's more info about Riley Ranch Nature Reserve.
Option 2. Sue and John will lead a group to Otter Bench. The Otter Bench trail consists of two connected loops along the Crooked River north of Terrebonne. The total hike has less than 100 ft of elevation gain. The trail along this section of the Crooked River has views into the spectacular rimrock of the Crooked River Gorge; the trail is mostly good with some rocky sections. As a group we’ll decide if we do both loops (6.5 miles) or just the south loop (3.2 miles) depending on weather and trail condition.
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on these hikes.
Number of hikers: Sign up is not required for this hike.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund. Be generous for obvious reasons.
Meeting time/place: Meet 8:30 am to organize, leave by 9:00 am. The Grove at Northwest Crossing. There is plenty of street parking around the Grove.NOTE: The meeting place is NOT where summer hikes met.
