Leap Year Day Beginner Ski Tour
It happens only every four years – Leap Year Day. What better way to celebrate the day than to go skiing? Who cares about the weather as long as there is snow to slide on, we havefriends to ski with and we are prepared and safe.
Date: Thursday February 29, 2024
Destination: Meissner Sno-Park
Skill Level: Beginner
Category: Classic, Groomed Trails
Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours on the trail, approximately 30 min drive time each way to destination from Bend.
Route: An easy 3.5-4.0miles on groomed trails. It could be snowing during our tour. Route will be be on easy trails, with exact itinerary subject to snow conditions, grooming and weather.
What to Bring:
Ski Equipment:
Appropriate classic ski equipment for groomed tracks: 65 mm width skis or less to fit in the tracks. Wider skis are OK, but they will not fit in the tracks so you will be skiing in the skating lane. Possibility of fresh snow, so wider skis may be advantageous.
Gear:
- Clothing to match the forecasted conditions; Proper winter clothing (no cotton)!
- Water, snack.
- A smile

Meeting time/place:
9:00 AM - Meet at the Grove in Bend (NW Crossing) for a bit of socializing & coffee drinking, arrange carpooling, sign waivers
9:30 AM - Leave promptly for destination
10:00 AM – Anticipated arrival at Meissner Sno-Park
