The meet up location on this Sunday hike is different. We will be meeting in Sisters instead of Bend!!!
Distance: 7.5 miles round trip. Plan on spending 6-7 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 2300 feet of gain
Trail Description: A major portion of this trail (2.5 miles) is exposed due to a past wildfire; afterwards it's more shaded. The trail is well-maintained and offers incredible views throughout the hike. At the summit, you'll have a 360 degree view of the Cascades and beyond (weather permitting). If this will be your first time up Black Crater, it will be very rewarding and a feather in your camp.
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Forest Service pass required at trailhead. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Difficult, due to the constant steepness of trail. Good pacing is required.
Number of hikers: Sign up is not required for this hike.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund. Be generous for obvious reasons.
Meeting place: Village Green Park in Sisters by the restrooms. Come by 8:00 am, we will depart around 8:15.
