We had to postpone trail work for a time due to smoke and heat. Things are looking better now, so we’ll give this another try.
The plan for this week is to do a survey of the Shelter Tie and Crosscut trails that we completed last year in the Swampy Lakes trail system. For this work we’ll bring hand saws and a pole saw or two to improve marker visibility, and we’ll locate any blowdown that will need the attention of sawyers once chainsaw restrictions are lifted. We won’t be hauling ladders or hanging markers on this trip.
Weather is expected to be sunny with a high around 75. How perfect is that? If conditions change and it’s too smoky, we’ll postpone the work, and that decision will be made early Wednesday morning and communicated to those that sign up.
What to bring: gloves, long sleeved shirt, eye protection, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Hard hats are required and can be provided if you don’t have one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: We’ll meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center for carpooling to the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park.
