We got quite a lot done last week on the trails at Swampy Lakes. The Crosscut and Shelter Tie trails are now clear of blowdown, at least until we get any fall storms.
The plan for this week is to do some brushing of the Swampy Loop trail north of the shelter and to check the condition of the first half mile or so of the North Swede Loop (the part that isn’t a summer trail). For this work we’ll bring lots of loppers, hand saws and a pole saw or two to improve marker visibility, and we’ll locate any blowdown that will need the attention of sawyers once chainsaw restrictions are lifted. We won’t be hauling ladders or hanging markers on this trip.
Note that we’ll be going out on Tuesday this week instead of the usual Wednesday.
Weather is expected to be sunny with a high around 62. Another perfect day!
What to bring: gloves, long sleeved shirt, eye protection, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Hard hats are required and can be provided if you don’t have one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: We’ll meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center for carpooling to the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park.
