Trail maintenance - Survey and Brushing at Swede Loop

It’s September and before you know it the snow will fly! This week we’ll continue work on surveying the trails in the Swampy trail system.

The plan for this week is to do a car shuttle and check out the Swede Loop. Assuming we get six people we’ll be able to divide into two teams and cover both the north and south side of the Swede Loop. We’ll start from Swampy and leave cars at the junction near Swede Shelter, so we’ll be working downhill. Much of this is on summer trails so there won’t be much blowdown to deal with, and I expect the amount of brushing to be light. For this work we’ll bring loppers, hand saws and a pole saws to improve marker visibility, We won’t be hauling ladders to hang markers on this trip. 

Weather is expected to be sunny with a high near 80, so bring plenty of water.

What to bring: gloves, long sleeved shirt, eye protection, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Hard hats are required and can be provided if you don’t have one. Bring a hand saw if you have one. 

Carpooling: We’ll meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center for carpooling.
