Last week we planned to install signs at Edison, but had to change our plans due to the fire; we did manage to complete some trail survey and brushing work on the Nordeen Loop on Friday instead. Ongoing closures at Edison will delay work there for the time being, so this week we’ll turn our attention to the Dutchman trail system.
We’ll plan to survey the Todd Ridge ski trail, and the upper part of the Big Meadow trail. We’ll make a loop out of it by returning via Pete’s Way to the Water Tower trail and back to Todd Lake. This will be survey/brushing/limbing only - no marker installation, no carrying ladders. If we encounter logs they are likely to be too big for hand saws to deal with. We’re building a list of downed logs so that when chainsaw restrictions are lifted we know where to direct the sawyers.
Weather is expected to be mostly cloudy on Wednesday with a chance of showers, and a high around 50.
What to bring: gloves, long sleeved shirt, eye protection, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Hard hats are required and can be provided if you don’t have one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: We’ll meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center for carpooling.
