Last week we completed surveying all the winter trails at Newberry. One more set of trails checked off the list! This week we’ll complete the last of the trail surveys in the Dutchman trail system and do the Dutchman Loop.
This will mainly be about checking for downed logs, with some brushing and limbing along the way. We won’t be hauling ladders on the Dutchman Loop. The total distance around the loop is a bit less than three miles, with little elevation change.
If it doesn’t make for too long a day, there’s a chance we may also put up three new junction signs near the Vista Butte trailhead before heading back to town.
Weather is expected to be mostly sunny on Wednesday with a high around 63.
What to bring: gloves, long sleeved shirt, eye protection, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Hard hats are required and can be provided if you don’t have one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: We’ll meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center for carpooling.
