Highlights:   We will ski counterclockwise around Swede Ridge.  This involves a decent downhill before the Swede shelter, where we will stop and have lunch (and a fire?).  The return involves a pretty steep climb, but we are expecting new snow Saturday so we should have good traction.

Level of Difficulty and Distance/Time expected: Intermediate Level at 7 miles and about 4 hours ski time.

When:Sunday, Jan 5. Meet at The Grove (inside, in front of Thump Coffee) at 8:30 for waivers, carpools, etc.  Leave by 9.

Where:  TH is Swampy Lakes; about a 30 minute drive from The Grove.

What to bring:

  • Ten Essentials.Including tools & straps for ski/boot repairs.
  • Lunch
  • Water, extra clothing
  • SnoPark permit if you are driving
  • Dogs are not allowed

Ski Equipment:

In general, skis should have a no-wax pattern for grip and metal edges for control on ice or hard pack conditions. Minimum width at the tip of the ski should be greater than 62mm.  Kicker skins might be helpful.

Boots should be over the ankle for support and control, and must be compatible with the bindings on the skis.  Poles should have large baskets so they don't sink in soft snow.  Adjustable poles are good for varying terrain and conditions.

Skis, boots, and poles designed exclusively for skiing on machine groomed tracks are not allowed on this tour.

Number of skiers:   Registration limit is 8 people.
