With the current snow depth, we’ll continue this week to work on improving marker visibility by doing limbing work - this time on the trails out of Swampy Lakes Sno-Park.

We’re having cold nights and warming during the day, which is consolidating the snowpack, but may make for icy conditions in the morning. We’ll be starting a half hour later than usual to give the snow some time to soften up. The actual trail conditions will determine which trails we cover. We will likely split into two groups to cover more territory.

The weather is forecast to be sunny on Wednesday, with a high in the low 40s.

This is a moderate ski, with the distance likely 5 miles or less, depending on what trails we cover.

What to bring: Winter Ten essentials, Extra gloves (since they’re likely to get wet), water, snack/lunch. Hard hats are required for this work; let me know if you need one.   Bring a hand saw if you have one. Skinny skis suitable for groomed tracks are not recommended; 62 MM or wider is appropriate, Might be a good day to throw in skins if you have them.

Carpooling: We’ll meet in the parking lot  at Bend Parks and Rec at 9:30 AM to sort out carpooling, and plan to be underway by about 9:45. Let me know if you plan to meet us at the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park instead.
