Intermediate Ski at Ray Benson

Trail Highlights: From Ray Benson SnoPark, we will ski out the South Loop Trail, possibly enjoy a diversion to Big Lake, then ski over to Brandenburg Butte Shelter for a late lunch.  Afterwards, we will return to the SnoPark via South Loop and North Loop trails.  NOAA predicts mostly sunny with a high of 44 degrees!  Bring your suntan lotion and dress in layers.

Level of Difficulty and Distance/Time expected: Intermediate level with 5 miles of skiing and an expected time of 3-3.5 hours.

When:  Wednesday, January 22.  Meet at the parking lot between PetSmart and Ashley's at 10:00.  This is a late start to allow the snow to get soft.

Where:  TH is Ray Benson SnoPark; about 45 minutes from the parking lot at Ashley's, so about 10:45.

What to bring:

  • Lunch
  • Water, extra clothing
  • SnoPark permit if you are driving
  • Dogs are not allowed

Ski Equipment:

In general, skis should have a no-wax pattern for grip. Minimum width at the tip of the ski should be greater than 62mm.  No big hills are anticipated.

Boots should be over the ankle for support and control, and must be compatible with the bindings on the skis.  Poles should have large baskets so they don't sink in soft snow.  Adjustable poles are good for varying terrain and conditions.

Skis, boots, and poles designed exclusively for skiing on machine groomed tracks are not allowed on this tour.

Number of skiers:   Registration limit is 8 people.
