Please note the date: Normally we do trail maintenance on Wednesdays but I am working around my jury duty commitment, so this week it’s Monday!
With the current good snow depth, we’ll continue this week to work on improving marker visibility by doing limbing work - this time on Flagline Tie, out of Swampy Lakes Sno-Park.
With the continuing cold conditions and a few days without new snowfall to let the snow pack settle, ski conditions ought to be ideal. We’ll bring a couple of pole saws, hand saws, markers, and a drill in case the trees needing markers are too frozen to pound nails. The weather is forecast to be sunny on Monday, not much wind, and a high in the low 20s.
This is a moderate ski, with the total distance around 6 miles. There may be trail breaking.
What to bring: Winter Ten essentials, Extra gloves (since they’re likely to get wet), water, snack/lunch. Hard hats are required for this work; let me know if you need one. Bring a hand saw if you have one. Skinny skis suitable for groomed tracks are not allowed; 62 MM or wider is appropriate.
Carpooling: We’ll meet in the parking lot at Bend Parks and Rec at 8:45 AM to sort out carpooling. Let me know if you plan to meet us at the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park instead.
