With the current good snow depth, we’ll continue this week to work on adding markers and improving marker visibility. This week the work will be on the new portion of the Shelter Tie trail, the new Crosscut Trail, and lower Flagline Trail in the Swampy Lakes trail system. There are several spots where the markers need to be raised, and there’s an opportunity to improve limbing for marker visibility.
We’ll bring a couple of pole saws, hand saws, markers, and a drill in case the trees needing markers are too frozen to pound nails.
Please look for updates to the plan based on weather. The actual destination for trail work might change based on snow conditions.
This is an intermediate ski, approximately 5 miles total distance to be covered. All trails we’ll be on are ungroomed. Weather is predicted to be sunny and in the 40’s.
What to bring: Winter Ten essentials, Extra gloves (since they’re likely to get wet), water, snack/lunch. Hard hats are required for this work; let me know if you need one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: We’ll meet in the parking lot at Bend Parks and Rec at 8:30 AM to sort out carpooling. Let me know if you plan to meet us at the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park instead.
