We continue to have great snowpack for improving marker visibility. This week we’ll tackle Flagline from Junction 88 to the snowmobile crossing east of Tumalo.
We’ll leave a shuttle vehicle at Vista Butte Sno-Park, and start skiing from the Nordic Center. We’ll head fairly directly to Flagline Access, then up to Junction 88 to start the work. The stretch we are planning to work on is about 2 miles in length, and much of it is already well marked, so may not need a lot of work (though I have been wrong on this before, so we’ll see!). We’ll establish a quitting time, and then ski to Vista Butte Sno-Park. It will be a long day.
We’ll bring a couple of pole saws, hand saws, markers, and a drill. Bring a pack that’s large enough to carry tools and supplies.
The weather is expected to be sunny with a high temperature near 50.
What to bring: Winter Ten essentials, Extra gloves (since they’re likely to get wet), water, snack/lunch. Hard hats are required for this work; let me know if you need one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: Note the early start time! We’ll meet in the parking lot at Bend Parks and Rec at 8:00 AM to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us on the hill, so I can sort out whether to meet us at the Nordic Center or Vista Butte.
