This is likely the last of the projects for marker improvement that we’ll tackle with the current good snowpack. Earlier this season we worked on marker improvement on the Big Meadow trail and quit just before we got to the big meadow. This time we’ll head fairly directly from the Nordic Center to the upper Big Meadow trail to complete the work. The stretch we are planning to work on is fairly short, about 1/2 mile, so unless I think up something else diabolical to work on it may be a short day. The route back will depend on snow conditions and the interest of the group.
We’ll bring a couple of pole saws, hand saws, markers, and a drill. Bring a pack that’s large enough to carry tools and supplies.
The weather is expected to be sunny with a high temperature near 50.
What to bring: Winter Ten essentials, Extra gloves (since they’re likely to get wet), water, snack/lunch. Don’t forget sun screen! Hard hats are required for this work; let me know if you need one. Bring a hand saw if you have one.
Carpooling: Note the change in carpool location! The gate is now open at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Station, so we’ll meet there at 8:30 AM to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us at the Nordic Center instead.
