A Tax Day Paulina - Newberry Ski Tour
Which would your rather do: File your taxes or ski?
Trail Highlights: From the 10 mile sno-park, we will ski up snowmobile trail 11, which follows ups the power line to Paulina Lodge. Depending on interest and time available, we may ski around to take in the views of Paulina Lake. Trail 11 is a snowmobile trail and snow will be compacted. Trail 11 was last groomed on April 8. Depending on overnight temperatures expect firm if not crispy snow for the climb up, and for the descent softened or even snow-cone snow conditions for the descent. I skied Trail 11 last Thursday (April 10), plenty of snow on the ground (2+ ft) so I expect ample snow for this tour. Plowing has commenced on the Paulina Road from 10 mile to the Lodge, but I don't expect any complications for our tour.
Level of Difficulty, Distance, and Time.
Rating this as intermediate. While the trail is mostly a gradual climb, a couple of steep sections make a solid snowplow with edging for speed control essential for the return ski.
