We will start from the Gray Butte saddle and head towards Smith Rock State Park and the summit of Burma Road. Destination may change due to weather. This hike requires registration.
Distance: 5 miles. Plan on spending 5-6 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 160 feet gain
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Easy
Number of hikers: 12 max including hike leader.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. The road to the trailhead is rough is some places but a vehicle with some clearance (RAV 4, Subaru) should be fine. Would not recommend a low-riding passenger vehicle. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund.
Meeting place: The Grove in NW Crossing: 921 NW Mount Washington Drive, Bend. We'll grab a table in the general seating area, near Thump. Come early to grab a coffee and chat with others before we arrange carpools. Be prepared to leave by 9:00 am sharp!
