An epic hike off the McKenzie Pass, starting at the Obsidian Trailhead, connecting with the PCT, passing the base of Collier Cone, and returning to the Scott Lake Trailhead (shuttle required). Registration is required.
Distance: 15 miles total. Plan on spending 9-10 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 2800 feet gain
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Difficult
Number of hikers: 12 max including hike leaders.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund. We will need a short shuttle between the end of the hike at the Scott Lake trailhead, and the Obsidian trailhead, where we start.
Meeting place: The Grove in NW Crossing: 921 NW Mount Washington Drive, Bend. We'll grab a table in the general seating area, near Thump. Come early to grab a coffee and chat with others before we arrange carpools. Be prepared to leave by 7:00 am sharp!
