This will be a loop trip coming in on the old Oregon Skyline trail past North Matthieu Lake then continuing up to South Matthieu Lake. We will come back down via the PCT.
Distance/hours: This hike is a 6-mile loop. Plan on spending 6-7 hours, including drive time to the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 800 ft of gain.
Difficulty level: Moderate.
What to bring: Summer Ten Essentials, water, snack/lunch and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Number of hikers: 8 participants including the hike leader
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fun. Be generous for obvious reasons.
Meeting place: The Grove in NW Crossing: 921 NW Mount Washington Drive, Bend. We'll grab a table in the general seating area, near Thump. Come early to grab a coffee and chat with others before we arrange carpools. Be prepared to leave by 9:00 am sharp!
Hikers from Redmond or Sisters can meet at the Village Green Park in Sisters at 9:45. Meet at the parking area in front of the toilets. Please let John Stockham know if you will be meeting the group there.
