Ski the Beginner Loop at Swampy

This is a 2.2 mile ski through gentle rolling terrain at Swampy snow park. We will be skiing on non machine groomed snow and most likely on skier made tracks. If there is fresh snow we could be breaking trail! There is a opportunity to test your turning skills on the gentle hills that surround the trail if conditions are good

Level: It is an advanced beginner trail.  Skiers should be able to snowplow and make snowplow turns and feel comfortable going up and down gentle grades

Time and meeting place: Meet at The Grove (921 NW Mt Washington Drive, Bend) at noon, Saturday, January 10.

We will be inside the food hall near Thump coffee stand.  There we will sign waiver and figure out carpooling and leave no later than 12:30 pm to the snow park.

We will start from Snow park at 1:00 pm.  The ski time should be about 2 hrs. Driving time to Swampy from the Grove is about 30 minutes

What to bring

• Ten essentials
• Extra clothing layers
• Ski repair kit
• Glide wax and ski scraper for if your ski starts to accumulate snowballs
• Hydration and “easy to eat in the cold “snacks

Ski equipment

Metal edged no wax skis, ski poles with baskets and warm boots are best for back country skiing.

Skis >68 mm wide will work best for back country.

Check your boots and bindings at home first to make sure everything works together!
