Coached Ungroomed Beginner Ski
Trail Highlights: We will combine an easy ski tour on the Beginner Loop at Swampy with multiple stops to work on skills specific to skiing an Ungroomed Trail. This tour is explicitly aimed at beginners who are new to (or uncertain about) ungroomed terrain. I skied Swampy Tuesday afternoon 2/17/26. Snow conditions are great.
Level of Difficulty, Distance, and Time:
This is probably the easiest ungroomed trail at Swampy, only 2.5 miles, and we will take 2.5-3 hours. We will do the less hilly options of this trail. However, this is an Ungroomed trail, not a Meissner groomed trail. It should be an easy trip for an ungroomed trail. We plan to stop multiple times to discuss and practice techniques needed for ungroomed trail skiing. A participant should have completed CONC ski instruction sessions at Meissner and/or consider themselves a competent beginner on groomed terrain.

Meeting place/time: Let’s meet at the Grove at 9:30 in front of Thump Coffee, plan the day, explain the concept of a “Coached Ski”, arrange carpools, and leave there by 10:00.
