We will hike on the Hollywood Trail, which starts at the rim of the Crooked River at the south end of Crooked River Ranch. The trail is an easy to moderate hike on a former road used for irrigation equipment and for film sets in the 1950's. Very scenic. Should be some early spring flowers.
Distance: 3-4 mile out-and-back hike. Plan on spending 5-6 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 400-500 feet of loss to the river
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Moderate.
Number of hikers: 16 hikers including the leader.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund.
Meeting place: The Grove in NW Crossing: 921 NW Mount Washington Drive, Bend. We'll grab a table in the general seating area, near Thump. Come early to grab a coffee and chat with others before we arrange carpools. Be prepared to leave by 9:00 am sharp. Hikers could also meet at 10:15 near the trailhead at the parking lot across the road from the Ranch Chapel, 5060 Club House Road, Crooked River Ranch.
