We will hike to Logjam Falls along Whychus Creek. The river should be flowing pretty well this time of year. After viewing the falls, we will walk farther up to the northern trailhead and to some nice views of the Cascades (weather permitting, of course). We will return via the same route or cross over to the Peterson Ridge Trail system and return via an easier, shorter route. Registration is required.
Distance: 4.2-5.6 miles round trip, depending on the route taken back. Plan on spending 4-5 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 600 feet gain
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Moderate. There is a short downhill section that is quite steep and rocky. Hiking poles are helpful.
Number of hikers: 10 max including hike leader.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund.
Meeting place: The Grove in NW Crossing: 921 NW Mount Washington Drive, Bend. We'll grab a table in the general seating area, near Thump. Come early to grab a coffee and chat with others before we arrange carpools. Be prepared to leave by 8:00 am sharp! For those who are coming from Redmond/Sisters, you can meet us at the trailhead at 8:50. Contact Kelly to arrange this.
