We will hike up the Peter Skene Ogden trail from the McKay Crossing campground TH. The trail ascends along the Paulina Creek, passing several waterfalls. A few of these have easy access, so we will make brief stops there for photos. After three miles, we will cross Paulina Creek on a footbridge, and stop for lunch at the top of one of these waterfalls. I'm bringing my camp chair to better enjoy lunch ;-). After lunch we return on the same trail.
Distance: 6.2 miles round trip. Plan on spending 4-5 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 706 feet gain
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, lunch, and proper footwear. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Moderate
Number of hikers: 10 max including hike leader.
Carpooling: Carpooling to the trailhead will be arranged at the meeting place.
Meeting place: Meet at 9:00 am in the Park and Ride at the corner of Hwy 97 and Paulina Lake Road. We will carpool to the trailhead, due to limited parking there and about 3 miles of a dirt road before the trailhead. Anyone who can carpool, please remember your Forest Pass.
