This week we’ll be putting up markers on the upper part of the Big Meadow trail. We surveyed and brushed this section of trail a few weeks ago, so this effort won’t require a lot of people. Most of the markers are going up in the big hemlock section of the trail to replace old, brittle ones. There’s about a half mile of trail to be marked, and the total distance to be covered will be about three miles.
What to bring: please ensure you have the following required PPE:
- hard hat (let me know if you need one)
- Sturdy footwear
- Long sleeved shirt and long pants
- Eye protection
We’ll be hauling in an extension ladder and a pole saw to get the work done, as well as markers and small tools. Bring a pack with enough room to carry some of this group gear.
Carpooling: Meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center at 8:30 to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us at the Dutchman Sno-Park instead.
NOTE: if it’s smoky, we will postpone, and if it’s expected to be hot we may start earlier. I’ll be in touch with those that register on Tuesday to confirm plans.
