We will hike to the scenic Tenas Lakes and then up to Scott Mtn for the panoramic views. Hike starts from the trailhead near Scott Lake off Hwy 242. Depending on the weather/smoke conditions, and preference of the group, we will either do a 7.7 mile out & back to Scott Mtn or the 9.7 mile loop by Hand Lake.
Distance: 7.7 miles RT for the out & back option. 9.7 miles for the loop option. Plan on spending 7-8 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 1,340 feet of elevation gain on the out & back option. 2,420 feet of elev. gain on the Hand Lake Loop option.
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals).
Difficulty level: Intermediate-Difficult
Number of hikers: 10 maximum (I have a wilderness permit for 10 people).
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. It is about a 1 hr drive to the trailhead. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund.
Meeting time/place: 8:00 am. Meet at the parking lot between Petsmart and Ashley Furniture in Cascade Center. Petsmart is located at 63455 N Hwy 97, Bend, OR 97701, right off of NW Robal Lane and across from Costco. The trip leader will be driving a brown Ford truck.
Those coming from Redmond or Sisters can join us at Village Green Park in Sisters at 8:30 am. We will meet in the parking area next to the bathrooms on S. Fir St.
