We will head down to Willamette Pass/Odell Lake area and hike to beautiful Yorin Lake in the Diamond Peak Wilderness. Up-close views of Diamond Peak are on offer at the lake. There is a crossing of Trapper Creek at the beginning (and end) of the hike which will require water shoes. There is also some blowdown on the trail to navigate.
Distance: 10 miles round trip. Plan on spending 7-8 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation gain/loss: 1470 feet gain
What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Difficulty level: Moderate to Difficult
Number of hikers: 8 max including hike leader.
Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund.
Meeting place: Meet at 7:30 am in the south end of the Safeway/Pinebrook Plaza parking lot near Sherwin Williams and the Bend South Liquor Store. Toilet and snacks available at Safeway. Trip leader will be driving a blue Subaru Forester. Be prepared to leave by 7:30 am sharp!
