Commercial thinning and fuels reduction work has impacted the eastern section of the South Swede Loop, and in general South Swede needs a refresh on markers and some minor brushing. We’ll tackle the South Swede loop from both ends, with a team starting from the Swampy Loop end, and another starting at Junction 60, not far from the Swede Shelter. We’ll be working from ladders to hang makers, and using pole saws to make the markers visible in a few places.

NOTE: the Forest Service has just lowered the fire restrictions, so it’s possible that logging work will resume in this area. If that’s the case, we may change plans and work in another location.

I’ll be in contact with registrants on Tuesday to confirm plans.

What to bring: please ensure you have the following required PPE:

- hard hat (let me know if you need one)

- Sturdy footwear

- Long sleeved shirt and long pants

- Eye protection

- a pack big enough to haul some extra tools and supplies.

Carpooling: Meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center at 9:00 to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us at the Swampy Lakes Sno-Park instead.
