The Lost Lake trail goes up the east side of the Obsidian Flow in the Newberry National Monument. We park at a hidden driveway between Paulina and East lakes, and walk across the road to the TH. After two miles, we switchback over to the Obsidian Flow for an unexpected view. At the 2.5 mile mark, we leave the Lost Lake trail to ascend to the Rim Trial. We do a lollipop loop on the Rim Trail, back to the Lost Lake trail along a remote pumice desert (lost lake?). We then return to the uphill trail and descend to the parking spot.
